Obbürgen and Fürigen plateau
On the Obbürgen plateau there are cow pastures as far as the eye can see. The contrast to the five-star hotels could not be greater. If you want to get to know the rural side of Bürgenberg, it's best to visit a cosy tavolata with a farmer's wife, sample Sbrinz at the Boden mountain cheese dairy or spend the night at the Untermisli adventure farm.

Highlights on the Bürgenstock
Kehrsiten - at the foot of the Bürgenstock
Kehrsiten belongs to the municipality of Stansstad and is idyllically situated on Lake Lucerne and at the foot of the Bürgenstock. The place name first appeared in written form in 1218 as ‘Chirsitun’. It is assumed that this originally meant a place where there were many cherry trees. However, other types of fruit trees such as apples, pears, plums and chestnut trees also have a long tradition in Kehrsiten. A freely accessible educational fruit trail leads past around 30 traditional fruit varieties. Remains of a Neolithic pile-dwelling settlement suggest that Kehrsiten was already inhabited 4000 years BC. The settlement in Kehrsiten has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2011 and is of national importance.
