The Musenalp extends over around 60 hectares of alpine pasture between 1300 and 1700 metres above sea level and can be reached on foot or by a small passenger cable car. Around 40 cows and 20 goats graze here from June to September. The alpine milk is used to make the finest alpine products: From Alpmutschli, a favourite with hikers, to crispy goat sausages and delicious alpine pondue, you too will find something here that will make you ‘gluschtig’!
Surrounded by the Bärenstock, the Oberalpgrat, the Bannalper Schonegg, the Ruchstock and the Engelberger Rortstock, the Oberalp lies on a terrace above the Grosstal at around 1750 to 2000 metres above sea level. In addition to alpine cheese, a range of other dairy products are also produced here, such as alpine butter, various herb cheeses, roast butter, cream and yoghurt. You can buy the cheese directly on the alp or from the farm in the valley.
The Biwaldalp is beautifully situated below the Sassigrat in the Isenthaler Grosstal valley, at around 1700 metres above sea level. It is located at the very back of the Grosstal valley: the Hangbaum alp. At around 1700 to 1800 metres above sea level, it spreads out below the Schlierä and the Urirotstock. The alp is home to an alpine farm where fine alp cheese is made from the cow's milk. Most of it is sold privately.
Wilderbutzen lies between the Bywald Alps in the north and Hangbaum in the south. The alpine family of six spends the summer here at 1600 to 1900 metres above sea level. The cow's and goat's milk is processed up here into alpine cheese according to old tradition. The alpine cheese specialities are available directly on the alp, in the village shop in Isenthal and at the Wuchämärcht in Altdorf.
The Bolgen alpine pasture area stretches between 1400 and 2200 metres above sea level on the southern slope of the Schwalmis. Later, the alpine cheese is also for sale at the farm in Flüelen or at the famous Uri alpine cheese market.
