High above Engelberg, the Obertrübsee Snowshoe Trail awaits nature-loving ramblers and ambitious athletes alike. Can there be a more wonderful feeling than leaving traces in the fresh powder snow as you wander up hill and down dale, through tranquil forests?

Get on board the gondola lift at the Titlis valley station and ride up to Trübsee. There, high above Engelberg, snowshoe hikers can look forward to a fabulous walk across fresh powder snow, looking towards the Titlis all the way. The trail starts at Berghotel Trübsee, where it leads downhill to the Trübsee lake. In the summer, the lake is filled with emerald-green glacier water, but in the winter it is covered in snow and ice. As you walk alongside the lake, you will be able to see the next waypoint in the distance – the Hüethütte. The snow crunches gently under your feet, but the snowshoes ensure you keep moving smoothly across its surface. Once you reach the hut, the route turns to the right and goes uphill via Chrützhubel (2.5 km) and along a moraine ridge until you reach a fantastic lookout point. After devouring the view, you can continue on to the mountain station of the Älperseil – the traditional little chairlift. Now is a good time to take a break and enjoy your packed lunch before setting out on the return journey, but this time via Bitzistock. The spectacular view down into the valley definitely makes all the effort worthwhile. When you return to where you started at the Trübsee mountain station, the Titlis Xpress will bring you comfortably back down the valley.

Please note that the signposted path must not be left out of consideration for wildlife.
