- Start: Fürenalp
- Destination: Fürenalp
Tranquil nature and snowy delights await snowshoe fans on the Fürenalp. From Engelberg railway station the free local bus service takes you to the Fürenalp valley station. Here, you can hire snowshoes and poles if required. The rustic red four-seater Buiräbähnli cable cars take you up to the Fürenalp, which is the starting point for the snowshoe tour.
The trail starts right by the mountain station, taking you slightly downhill, under the cable car line, and along the ridge. On this section, you have excellent views of the Groß Spannort and Chli Spannort, which are reminiscent of the Dolomites with their soaring jagged peaks. Keep your camera at the ready and drink in the beauty of your natural surroundings. After around two kilometres there is a brief uphill section, but once you reach the top you’re halfway through and the rest of the way back to the start is all slightly downhill.
The aspect on this side is no less lovely, as you walk towards the Titlis and have great views of its majestic glacier. The mountain restaurant’s cosy dining room is a wonderful place to warm up and tuck into something delicious. Then the Buiräbähnli will take you back down to the valley.
