mountain railway
After a short journey, enjoy the beautiful nature and the peaceful hiking area above the Engelberg Valley.
The Nechimatt-Diegisbalm cable car has been in operation at this location since 1964. It replaced the old Vorder Diegisbalm-Stegmatt water counterweight cable car with an open cabin. It was already equipped with a 4-person cabin, could be used for transporting livestock and was powered by an electric motor.

The cable car provides access to agriculture and the Alps and serves as a lifeline to the valley for four farms, particularly in winter.

The current Nechimatt-Diegisbalm aerial cableway was completely renovated in 2004 and equipped with modern cabins. It enables all residents on the mountain to travel up and down independently around the clock.

As a user of the cable car, you help to cover the maintenance costs.
The Oberalp cable car is the continuation of the Nechimatt - Diegisbalm cable car and primarily serves as a means of access and transport for the Berghof and the surrounding alpine farms.
