The Literaturhaus Zentralschweiz, which opened at the end of 2014, is a platform for sensual and intellectual exchange, a place of concentration and inspiration, a meeting place for books, texts, words and voices of authors from Central Switzerland and beyond.Readers and non-readers, writers, translators, publishers and booksellers, journalists, musicians and moderators meet in an intimate setting - they all know about the power of literature, the pleasurable poetic thinking that opens up spaces for thought and expands horizons.
The public programme is aimed at a wide range of interested audiences: (multimedia) writing workshops for children, young people and adults allow them to try out writing with relish, the Central Switzerland Literature Circle discusses urgent contemporary novels, and moderated readings often feature literary highlights with regional, national and international guests.
The "lit.z" network for language and literature in Central Switzerland is based in the Rosenburg in Stans. As a supra-regional institution, lit.z is present in all six cantons of Central Switzerland with the format "lit.z unterwegs" (lit.z on the road) in cross-disciplinary collaborations.
In 2020, lit.z was honoured with the Landis & Gyr Foundation's first ever recognition grant.
