Beroldingen Castle is located directly on the Swiss Path and the old mule track from Lucerne to Altdorf.
Beroldingen Castle, built in the 16th century, was the ancestral seat of the noble Beroldingen family. It is not a fortress, but a beautiful country residence with a marvellous view of Lake Uri and the Reuss valley in the canton of Uri. It was built on the foundations of a previous property using stones from the immediate surroundings. For decades, the Beroldingen family played a leading role in the valley of Uri and beyond. As Beroldingen Castle was located directly on the Gotthard mule track, it served as a customs station.

The little castle can be reached on foot in around 30 minutes from Seelisberg Oberdorf (Seelisberg postbus stop, Tanzplatz) and offers a fantastic vantage point. Today, Beroldingen Castle is inhabited by an artist. From May to October, you can also visit the castle from the inside.
